My love of words and stories goes beyond writing them. I am also an experienced copy editor, and have worked with small presses as well multiple clients through freelance work.
This is my fourth and final year with the Champlain College Publishing Initiative, where I began as a staff writer and now work as a senior copy editor and project manager. Through Champlain Publishing I have collaborated with students on several manuscripts for publication, including Audeamus 2014, a compilation of recognized student academic essays.
During my semester abroad, I worked as a copy editing intern for New Dublin Press in Dublin, Ireland, where my primary responsibility was to copy edit and proofread essays and poetry for the Press's website. Working with New Dublin Press has taught me how to pick up new skills on the go, and I taught myself European copy editing standards in accordance with The Oxford Guide to Style.
I don't just love English words--I spent six years before college learning how to speak and write in French and am currently enrolled in an advanced French course. I can also speak some Spanish, and am learning how to speak basic Mandarin Chinese during my last semester.
I have taken a course in web development that covered how to code and build websites using HTML5 and CSS3.
I completed four years of traditional art classes in high school and am teaching myself how to produce digital art as well. A collection of my artwork can be viewed in my portfolio.
