Hi! My name is Elise, and I am a 20-something-ish recently graduated Professional Writing student from Champlain College with a specialization in publishing--what will hopefully be my path to a career as a book editor. More specifically, I aspire to be a copy editor for young adult and young reader's chapter books. I believe authors for these ages produce the most creative worlds and characters, increase engagement with their readers, and, of course, know how to make reading fun. After much soul searching (and by soul searching I mean reading), I finally understood that writing, in all of its forms, is an integral part of who I am.
I feel as though the older I get the shorter the days become, so I am trying my best to live each to its fullest. I fill my days fiddling with my assorted instruments, doodling character ideas and still-life snapshots, and writing stories in my head. It is my dream to travel the world and record my adventures (those real and those imagined) in sketches and words.
For now, bookstores are my destination of choice. I dabble quite a bit in art, music, and literature, although some days I can actually be spotted doing productive things outside. Chances are though I will be found buried in a book or lost in thought. One day I will own a house with walls made entirely of bookshelves (and good luck finding me outside after that).
Since I love to talk so much about books, take a peek at what I'm reading on Goodreads if you're interested!

As of November 30th, I have completed NaNoWriMo for the first time ever! This is my second year participating, and although I didn't win in 2015 the experience motivated me to try the 50,000 word challenge again this year. My little buddy Waffles the Vulpix (now a Ninetails) has kept you updated on my word count progress throughout November 2016. Thanks, Waffles!

I may have finished NaNoWriMo in 2016, but my novel isn't finished yet. With July's Camp NaNoWriMo just around the corner I plan to tackle this illusive ending once and for all! My progress can be tracked here throughout the month.
